A dentil is one of a series of closely spaced, rectangular blocks that form a molding. Dentil molding usually projects below the cornice, along the roof line of a building. However, dentil molding can form a decorative band anywhere on a structure. The use of dentils is strongly associated with Classical (Greek and Roman) and Neoclassical (Greek Revival) architecture. It is especially noticeable in the pediment of a portico of a Neoclassical building. The Correct Spelling If the word dentil sounds more like a root canal than an architectural detail, heres the reason — dental and dentil sound alike and have the same origin. Dentil is a noun from the Latin word dens, meaning tooth. Dental, from the same Latin root, is an adjective used to describe the objects and procedures of a dentist (e.g., dental floss, dental implant). When speaking of the teeth under a cornice, use the word dentil. It describes what the ornamentation looks like (i.e., a series of teeth). The teeth in your mouth have a more important function than the teeth on your house. Moulding is an alternate spelling for the millwork or masonry molding found on buildings. Dentil moulding is an acceptable leftover spelling from the British. The 1935 U.S. Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C. as well as the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building in New York City are late neoclassical arrivals, but complete with dentils. Antebellum architecture is often Greek Revival with dentil flourishes. Any home with neoclassical details, including Federal and Adam house styles, will often display dentils. Dentils, Symmetry, and Proportion Sure, Elvis had dentil molding in his dining room, but can we — should we — all be so bold? Dentil molding is a very powerful design. In some cases, its overpowering. For interiors, dentil molding can make a small room look like a torture chamber. And why dont you see dentils on bungalows or minimal traditional houses from the 1940s and 1950s? Dentil molding was designed to ornament Greek temples, not modest American homes. Dentils may be traditional, but they are anything but minimal. Dentil molding demands proportionality and is innately symmetric. Our sense of symmetry and proportion in design comes straight from the Roman architect Vitruvius and his description of Greek architecture. Here is what Vitruvius wrote in De Architectura over 2,000 years ago: Over the frieze comes the line of dentils, made of the same height as the middle fascia of the architrave and with a projection equal to their height. The intersection...is apportioned so that the face of each dentil is half as wide as its height and the cavity of each intersection two thirds of this face in width....and the total projection of the corona and dentils should be equal to the height from the frieze to the cymatium at the top of the corona....the scheme of dentils belongs to the Ionic, in which there are proper grounds for its use in buildings. Just as mutules represent the projection of the principal rafters, so dentils in the Ionic are an imitation of the projections of the common rafters. In much of what we â€Å"identify with in our everyday lives has to do with the relationships we have with one another. These relationships are ultimately embedded into our memory for basically the rest of our lives, and with some shape or form, shape us to who we are today. These relations, similarly have to do with faces, actions and personal experiences that we have never been exposed to before. This type of exposure is apparent in Herman Melville’s Typee,where â€Å"identity† is of critical importance to that of Tommo, the narrator, along with the tribe that he encounters while stranded on the island. There are numerous instance as to where Tommo questions his moral and somewhat physical ‘identity’ in Typee. These events such as Tommos decision to tattoo himself is a major identity crisis because it’s not something he, nor his Western culture is really exposed to or familiar with. The Typee practices and societal structures displayed by Melvill e in Typee allows the reader in some case, to compare and contrast how Western civilization and the â€Å"other† [Typee] reaffirm â€Å"identity.† In a sense Tommo and his decision, by the end of the novel, really allows the reader to understand what creates and helps maintain identity for ones self. There are a number of strategies that are used in the execution of the self-assessment. MBTI (Myers- Briggs Type Indicator) can easily be used for the identification of my own leadership style. Bales based on the theory of Carl Jung that MBIT model is only for self-assessment(Furnham Crump, 2015). As per the divisions in the MBTI model, I set myself on the ISTP level. As per my own leadership style, the model can easily identify me as introvert. When I focus on my thoughts and the experiences of others and also myself, I consider myself as an introvert who is shy on some things. As time passed, I then realized that it is very important to concentrate on the listening than only o n speaking. For making decisions, I always prefer using my own experiences and the skills that I have learnt. I always believe in being a realist at the same time when I try to be a visionary for future. Hence, when I opt for any new strategy, I love being democratic because it is helpful in making me look at a bigger picture which is definitely hard for the person like me to sense personality. I need to develop N dichotomy when I make decisions. In T-F dichotomy, I can easily place myself in the T position or thing position. I always prefer to take decisions which are based on the situations and sometimes on logic. As I already mentioned, that I love to be honest while I interact with the followers. I take impartiality and fairness as the most important value of life. Lastly, for J-P dichotomy, I find myself as P or perceiving. I always like to take the challenges and I have no fear of the unpredictable situations. This helps in growing myself as a leader for the future too and also at the same time gives me confidence for implementing new innovations in life and in career too. Hence, I easily count myself as the ISTP leader. Out of few, one of the partners realized that I am much more calculative then it is needed while I make decisions as a leader. My partners feedback also was that my capability to take risks and my behavior is becoming too logical which is contradictory. And then I think I was touching him in his genital area through his pants, andI think I unbuttoned his shirt and was kissing his chest. And then . . . Iwanted to perform oral sex on him . . . and so I did. And then . . . I think heheard something, or he heard someone in the office. So, we moved into thebathroom. And I continued to perform oral sex and then he pushed me away, kind of ashealways did before he came, and then I stood up and I said . . . I care aboutyou so much; . . .
